Musician of the month – Insectdudu

Kiprono Okani fondly known as Insectdudu is a Hip Hop artist and an activist of social change in the society. Insectdudu started music 12 years ago after being inspired by musician like Wenyeji when growing up in Kagemi. His current album is called Heart of a Champion that has nine tracks and 3 interludes. Which is inspired by day to day activities that express the reality of life. He has collaborated with the likes of Ciro Githunguri, Hustlajay MauMau, Nafsi Huru, Cece Sagini, Mc Black and Tuffskills. His album has been produced/ Mixed/ Mastered by Sammy “Shortwave” Wanjala and executive producer Mystic Breed. Kipindi Cha hiphop is an event hosted annually by him, which gives East African Hip Hop artist a platform to showcase their diversity and talent. He has a blog and he is starting a podcast on Afripods to spread news and views about Hip Hop, social change and human rights. He also teaches music in informal schools and prison. Currently teaches Hip Hop music and mariba at Kivukoni International School in Kilifi. Among the schools he has taught include SHOFCO, Raila educational center, St philips, Street Urchins e.t.c. He wants to live the world a better place by inspiring youths and families because he believes that if you want to shape anything you start from home.
